Connecting with Nonprofits, Foundations, and International Agencies
Wharton Executive Education provides leaders in these sectors with the critical skills necessary to maximize the performance of their organizations, allowing them to more effectively further their important social mission.
Today nonprofit organizations, foundations, and international agencies play an ever increasing role in creating and finding solutions to complex global issues. In uncertain times, these organizations are key players in addressing the needs of underserved populations. Wharton Executive Education partners with nonprofit organizations, international agencies, civil society organizations, and foundations to design educational solutions that target their crucial developmental needs, as well as the needs of their constituencies. With access to faculty and research centers across Penn’s twelve schools, we provide in-depth program content that motivates our participants to think about their social impact in entirely new and innovative ways.
Unique Business Solutions for the Social Sector
- Connecting International Agencies
Each year, Wharton Executive Education and the Association for Human Resources Management in International Organizations (AHRMIO) welcome human resources leaders from such international agencies as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Food Programme, and the United Nations to Wharton’s campus. This high-level executive leadership program focuses on the role on the HR manager as a strategic partner within the organization. Specific topic areas include: HR as a Strategic Partner, Managing and Leading through Change, Silo-Busting, Systems Thinking, Ethics in International Organizations, Leadership in Turbulent Times, and Networks and Influence. Participants also worked on scenario planning projects.
- Leading the Charge in Microfinance
When an annual survey of the microfinance industry found that management quality topped the list of concerns among microfinance institutions, Women’s World Banking leapt to action through the creation of the Center for Microfinance Leadership. As part of this new initiative, about two dozen microfinance leaders from around the world gathered at Wharton for the Women’s World Banking Advance Leadership Workshop.
Currently only about one-fifth of the developing world population has access to formal financial services, and the need continues to grow. Given the enormous potential market for these financial services and the rapid growth of the industry, this program served as a key opportunity to grow and develop leaders who can thrive in this complex industry.
- Shaping Young Global Leaders
The World Economic Forum’s Global Leadership Fellows Programme is a three year program gathering the most promising young professionals and preparing them to face global leadership challenges. The three-year programme combines work assignments and academic programs at Wharton Executive Education, and and other prestigious universities, along three main strands: understanding the world, honing personal and interpersonal leadership skills and drawing on synergies within organizations.
