For Non-WBLC participants
Penn Law LLM candidates who are not enrolled in the WBLC may enroll in the summer session which begins August 14, 2012. The program fee for the summer session is $2,000 for non WBLC participants. This fee must be paid in full by August 6, 2012. To enroll in the summer session, please contact Penn Law for the application link.
Penn Law LLM candidates who complete the summer session and wish to enroll in the WBLC, must contact Katrina Clark, Associate Director of Customer Care and Program Consultation, no later than September 4, 2012. Please note that the balance of the tuition ($13,000) must be paid in full prior to the first day of classes in September.
You may not enroll in the WBLC if you do not complete the summer session.
Tuition
Tuition: $15,000 for the full certificate program. This fee does not include the cost of textbooks, lecture notes and other learning materials.
Tuition is to be paid in full by July 13, 2012. For those that need to split the payment in half by semester, the first payment of $7,500 is due by July 13 and the second payment is due by October 12. If you would like the split tuition payment option, please indicate this in the “additional comments” section of the application. Financial aid is not available.
For Penn LLM students who wish to take a WBLC class but not enroll in the certificate program, the cost is $2,000 for the entire summer session and $4800 per course in the fall and spring. Tuition must be paid in full one week before classes start. There are no split payment options.
Please note that students who are not enrolled in the WBLC program are only allowed to attend the summer session and/or take a maximum of two WBLC courses thereafter. Students who are interested in taking more than two WBLC courses should enroll in the WBLC program.
You may not enroll in the WBLC program after September 10, 2012.
Who is Eligible*
Corporate lawyers, in-house counsel, judges, bankers, and other internationally-trained legal professionals enrolled in Penn Law's LLM program.
*Please note that completing the WBLC will not grant a Wharton degree or Wharton alumni status to participants.
Program Sequence
Participants must complete the summer session before enrolling in the fall and spring courses. Only participants who successfully complete the summer session and are enrolled in the WBLC Certificate by the noted deadline will be eligible for the WBLC.
No changes in course selections will be accepted after the second class session has been held.
Certificate Requirements
To receive the WBLC certificate, candidates must satisfactorily complete the summer session plus three WBLC courses.
The WBLC courses do not earn academic credit. Upon completion of a course, participants may receive a letter grade or a Pass/Fail (P/F). This is at the discretion of the course instructor and will be explained in the course syllabus provided on the first day of class.
Courses taken for the WBLC will not appear on a permanent record or on the Penn Law transcript.
Participants successfully completing the WBLC will receive a Wharton Business and Law certificate and documentation issued by Wharton's Aresty Institute of Executive Education listing courses taken and grades conferred.
In order for a given Wharton course to count toward the certificate, a student must achieve a "Pass (P)" or a grade of "C" or better.
Waiving or Replacing Courses
No courses offered outside of the WBLC will be counted toward the certificate.
Withdrawal Policies and Tuition Refund
Tuition will be invoiced with the official acceptance letter. For those that need to split the payment in half by semester, the first payment of $7500 is due by July 13 and the second payment is due by October 12. If you would like the split tuition payment option, please indicate this in the “additional comments” section of the application.
Only those students who have been accepted to the Penn Law LLM program may apply to the Wharton Business and Law Certificate.
The courses offered during the summer session are mandatory. In the fall and spring semesters, no changes in course selections will be accepted after the second class session. Changes in course selection must be emailed to: execed@wharton.upenn.edu
The specific dates that apply to withdrawal/refund policies are included in the WBLC Program Calendar, which is posted on the WBLC intranet. Deadlines posted in this calendar supersede any deadlines posted elsewhere by other schools or departments at the University of Pennsylvania.
As each participant is charged full tuition and fees for the Wharton Business and Law Certificate prior to the start of the summer session, should a participant wish to withdraw from the WBLC, the following tuition fee schedule will apply:
-
Withdraw prior to August 14: 100% of the paid annual tuition will be refunded
-
Withdraw after August 14 but before the fall semester begins: full tuition will be refunded, less $2,000.
-
Withdraw after the fall semester begins: 50% of annual tuition, but no less than $7500
-
Withdraw after the spring semester begins: No refund
Participants withdrawing due to illness must include with their withdrawal request a physician's letter stating clearly that the student has been disabled by an injury or illness arising after the beginning of classes and is unable to continue class work.
Participants withdrawing due to military service must include a copy of military orders or a signed affidavit from the military member's commanding officer that confirms the military orders and the dates of the assignment.
Participants also will need to notify Penn Law of their actions by emailing gradadmissions@law.upenn.edu or calling 215.898.0407
