The Sixth Annual Wharton Aerospace Conference will be held on the Wharton campus in Philadelphia on February 6, 2009, with a pre-event reception the prior evening, February 5th.

Wharton Aerospace is an association of senior executives and invited guests with shared ties and commitments to the aerospace & defense industries. We conduct content-driven by-invitation-only annual events on Wharton campus to foster professional and social connections among our members.

Keynote speakers this year include:

  • Wes Bush, President and COO, Northrop Grumman Corp.
  • Henry Hubschman, President and CEO, GE Commercial Aviation Services
  • and Howard Lance, President and CEO, Harris Corp.

We will have two concurrent panels, one on "civil aviation" and one on "defense industry corporate strategy". Our civil aviation panel is our recurring look at current issues and challenges facing the industry.

Our defense industry panel will take a provocative look at what it means to plan and execute strategy given certain unique characteristics of the industry. The strategy and business development leadership from Textron, Honeywell, ITT, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems will discuss strategy-making and business development at their firms in a highly interactive format. This will be a excellent opportunity to hear these executives discuss their point of view on the impact of a new administration, and of the financial crisis on defense budgets and priorities.

Additionally, we will have break-out sessions for self-selecting "communities of practice" based on specific future input from all registered participants.
