About David

David A. Asch, MD, MBA is the senior vice dean for strategic initiatives in the Perelman School of Medicine. He is the John Morgan Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine and the Wharton School. He served as the executive director of the Center for Health Care Innovation since its inception in 2012. He created, and from 2001 to 2012 directed, the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) in the Department of Veterans Affairs.

His research is in the area of behavioral economics and aims to understand and improve how physicians and patients make medical choices. He is the author of more than 350 published papers and has won numerous awards for training and research. From 1998 to 2012, Dr. Asch was executive director of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. He holds an MD from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School.
