About Henning

Henning Piezunka is an associate professor of management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

The focus of his research lies on competition and collaboration, crowdsourcing, and CEO succession. He studies these topics by examining entrepreneurial firms, family firms, and sports (e.g., F1, chess, soccer, basketball).

The focus of his teaching lies in helping firms to compete and collaborate more effectively, to become more innovative and entrepreneurial, and to manage their successions better.

Professor Piezunka obtained a PhD at Stanford University; a Master of Science at the London School of Economics, U.K.; and a Diplom-Kaufmann from the University of Mannheim, Germany. Before starting his academic career, he co-founded a web design company in 1998 and acted as its founder-CEO until selling it in January 2016. By 2016, Professor Piezunka’s company employed more than 30 people and served customers in more than 80 countries.
