The Penn Compact: An Official Commitment to Positive Social Impact
The Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania are committed to creating positive social impact. This commitment has been a part of Penn’s tradition since Ben Franklin founded the school. Penn President Amy Gutmann has furthered the university’s commitment by introducing the Penn Compact. The Penn Compact is President Gutmann’s vision for advancing the University of Pennsylvania “From Excellence to Eminence” in all of the university’s core endeavors — teaching, research, and service. The Compact’s driving principles are increasing access, integrating knowledge, and engaging locally and globally. Wharton Executive Education strives to embrace these concepts in all of our work.
Dean Tom Robertson has brought a broader global and social focus to the Wharton School. The School continues to focus on research, teaching programs, and practical application projects that deliver economic and social value to the communities, governments, and organizations we serve.
At Wharton Executive Education, we deliver economic value and create positive social impact in the following ways:
- Applying world-class leadership and business knowledge to advance the effectiveness of mission-driven organizations
- Partnering with public and private sector entities to develop educational initiatives that facilitate economic development and societal well-being
- Teaching rigorous business strategies and measurement tools that enhance performance and demonstrate “triple bottom-line” impact
- Democratizing education by disseminating knowledge to underserved populations and emerging markets
