To Apply for a Program

Completed applications should be submitted as early as possible to ensure a place in the program.

Admissions Criteria

Wharton Executive Education carefully monitors the balance of industries, regions, functions, and companies in each program session. By doing so, we lay the foundation for a strong peer-learning environment. Applications are subject to acceptance by Wharton Executive Education.

Payment is due upon acceptance into the program. We accept wire transfers, checks made payable to the “Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania,” and credit cards. To pay by VISA, MasterCard, or American Express, please contact the Payment Processing Center at +1.215.898.5737. Prices are subject to change without notice. You can expect to receive specific information and materials regarding preparation and logistics approximately three weeks before the program start date if your full tuition payment has been received.

For applicants to the Advanced Management Program only:
The Advanced Management Program (AMP) fee includes private accommodations, most meals, and all program materials. If you are accepted into AMP, we will issue your company an invoice. A refundable $15,000 deposit is required to reserve your place. Payment in full — by check, wire transfer, or credit card — must be received at least 60 days before the program start date. A full refund will be issued if cancellation in writing is received 90 days prior to the start of the program. Otherwise, the $15,000 cancellation fee will apply.

For applicants to the Advanced Finance Program and General Management Program only:
The fee for the Advanced Finance Program (AFP) or the General Management Program (GMP) includes tuition for six open-enrollment programs (up to 30 program days in total), executive coaching, private accommodations, most meals, and all program materials.

  • If you are accepted into AFP or GMP, we will issue you or your company an invoice. Payment of the $66,500 tuition is due upon acceptance. Payment in full — by check, wire transfer, or credit card — must be received before the first program start date.
  • If you wish to cancel enrollment in one of your selected courses, we are more than happy to reschedule your attendance for the next program date, or we can work with you to identify a more convenient session. If you wish to withdraw entirely from GMP, please contact Wharton Client Relations at +1.215.898.1776 or to discuss your specific situation.
  • Please note these transfer and cancellation policies: We will allow participants to transfer between different dates of a specific program with at least 10 days’ notice before the start date.
  • Cancellations received more than 90 days prior to the start of the first program in your learning journey will receive a full refund. Cancellations received less than 90 days prior to the first program’s start date will incur a charge of $15,000. Please note that after you have taken your first program in AFP or GMP, no refunds will be given.

We are registered with the State of California. Registration means we have met certain minimum standards imposed by the state for registered schools based on our written application to the state. Registration does not mean that we have met all of the more extensive standards required by the state for schools that are approved to operate or licensed or that the state has verified the information we submitted with our registration form.

Cancellation of Registration

Cancellations must be received in writing. Cancellations received more than 30 days prior to a program’s start date will incur a charge of 10 percent of the full tuition; cancellations received 30 to 14 days prior to a program’s start date will be charged 50 percent of the full tuition of the program. Cancellations received less than 14 days prior to a program’s start date will be charged 100 percent of the full tuition. If a registrant fails to attend without notification, or if a withdrawal occurs on or after a program start date, full tuition will be forfeited.

If Wharton cancels a program due to low enrollment, registered participants will receive a refund of any tuition paid, or be allowed to move their registration to a future running of the program. Refunds from cancelled programs can also be applied to other open-enrollment programs.

Please note that in all situations, participants are responsible for their travel and Wharton cannot reimburse for any travel expenses that may have been incurred.

Refunds and Transfers of Registrations

Participants who need to transfer to another Wharton Executive Education program can do so within one year of the start date of the original program. Transfer requests received 30 to 14 days prior to a program’s start date will be charged 20 percent of the full tuition of the program. Transfer requests received less than 14 days prior to a program’s start date will be charged 30 percent of the full tuition. The remaining balance can be applied to another Wharton Executive Education program or refunded within one year of the original program date.

Please note that 100 percent of the full tuition will be forfeited if one of the following occurs:

  • The registrant does not enroll in another program within one year of the original start date.
  • The registrant has not requested a refund within one year of the original start date.
  • The registrant transfers more than two times.

If a request to substitute a registrant is received in writing prior to a program’s start date, Wharton may, in its sole discretion, permit the substitution at no additional charge if the candidate is qualified.

Additional Policies

Application, withdrawal, transfer, and tuition benefit policies apply only to Leadership, Finance & Wealth Management, Marketing & Sales, and Strategy & Innovation programs. Different policies are in place for Programs for Organizations (Custom Programs), online programs, the Advanced Management Program, the Executive Development Program, the General Management Program, the Advanced Finance Program, and the Wharton Fellows Program. Additional Benefits for Groups

When four or more participants from any one organization attend the same program, Wharton offers up to three hours of out-of-class consulting time with faculty — at no extra cost. The faculty will be chosen based on the needs of the organization or that particular group. The consultation time is an opportunity for participants to explore issues pertinent to their organization — in effect, to customize their Wharton experience.

In lieu of the consultation time, the team of four or more participants can opt for a 10 percent discount on each enrollment. This tuition discount will be refunded only upon the conclusion of the program. All four (or more) participants must attend the same offering. Please note that the number of people from one organization who can attend a particular program may be limited, depending on class size.

Faculty consultations must be arranged in advance with Executive Education staff when you submit your application. We will not be able to provide this benefit after the start of the program. This option offers your organization the best of both worlds — the powerful solutions of Wharton’s executive programs and customization designed to meet the needs of your specific business challenges. Advance Preparation

Any advance preparation to be completed prior to attending the program, such as pre-readings, will be provided to you by a program coordinator, provided that full tuition payment has been received before the start of the program.

Professional Credit

The Wharton School’s Aresty Institute of Executive Education is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards and boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual programs. In accordance with NASBA guidelines, all our programs have a group-live instructional method. If you require CPE credits, please contact a program consultant or your program coordinator, who can tell you the number of credits for your program. In addition, some programs offer CME, CLE, or CNE credits, when appropriate.

Insurance Coverage

The University requires that all students/participants maintain insurance for medical care, illness, and injury. The University is not responsible for medical expenses incurred while attending a program. Please make sure that any private insurance provides valid coverage in the United States.
