Focus On: Women in Leadership

In this issue, the faculty of Wharton's Women in Leadership program discuss how perceptions of gender roles affect women leaders — and entire organizations. We also meet Amani Zaid, a young professional from Yemen who came to Wharton as part of an extraordinary group of lawyers and business professionals from the Middle East and North Africa. We explore the difference between negotiation and persuasion with the founding directors of a new program and authors of a recently published book on "strategic persuasion." And author Maya Angelou discusses the importance of living an impassioned life in an excerpt from a thought-provoking book on personal success by Built to Last co-author Jerry Porras. Finally, we offer upcoming programs that can strengthen the business knowledge and leadership skills of both genders.
