About Caryn:

Caryn Lerman is the Vice Dean for Strategic Initiatives for Penn Medicine and the John H. Glick Professor in Cancer Research. As a leader in Academic Medicine and Higher Education, she served for 10 years as the Senior Deputy Director of Penn’s Abramson Cancer Center as well as the Co-Director of the Penn Medicine Translational Neuroscience Center. As Vice Dean, she is responsible for development and execution of Penn Medicine’s strategic priorities, working with stakeholders across the institution and university. She also oversees Penn Medicine’s leadership searches, onboarding and evaluation, and is the Co-leader of the Wharton-Penn Medicine Executive Education in Health Care Program. A certified executive coach, Caryn is recognized as a top mentor of leaders in academic medicine. As a nationally recognized behavioral scientist, Caryn has over 375 publications that have been cited over 20,000 times. She has served on numerous boards, including the National Institute on Drug Abuse Advisory Council, the National Cancer Institute Board of Scientific Advisors, and the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research. Caryn is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, a major honorific society for national leaders in medicine and health care.
